Soroptimist International of Courtenay
Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best. Soroptimist means Best for Women. We have been serving the Comox Valley since 1944.
Our mandate is to improve the lives of women and girls locally and internationally. Locally we provide ongoing support to many organizations, including the Comox Valley Transition Society, Comox Valley Hospice Society, Today ‘N’ Tomorrow Learning Society and the annual Comox Valley Child Development Association Telethon. This is just to name a few. We also provide bursaries to high school students entering post-secondary studies and to North Island College students.
Our Club Signature Project, ‘SoroptiPaks’, provides starter kits of basic household items for women and their children who are leaving difficult family situations, primarily referred by the Comox Valley Transition Society.
We participate in Soroptimist International of The America’s Signature Projects “Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women” and “Dream It Be It, Career Support for Girls”.
We are currently accepting new members. If you are interested in giving back to your community in this way contact Corae at 250-897-6922.
